Born and raised in Bombay, India, I am a painter whose work merges surrealism and pop aesthetics to create vivid, dreamlike compositions. Art for me, is an invitation to step into the extraordinary.
My journey as an artist has been deeply influenced by my father, Kamlesh Gupta whose encouragement and belief in my vision have shaped my creative path. Growing up in India, my artistic sensibilities were shaped by the rich visual culture, mythology, and contrasts of my homeland. However, my experiences living in different countries have broadened my artistic perspective, exposing me to diverse cultures, histories, and artistic traditions. This global exposure has instilled in me the understanding that art transcends language and borders- it is a universal dialogue.
I refined my craft at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), where I developed a strong foundation in conceptual thinking and technique. Later, my Master’s in Curatorial Studies at Nuova Accademia Di Bella Arti (NABA) in Milan, expanded my understanding of art beyond creation, allowing me to engage with it in a broader cultural and institutional context. My education allows me to approach my work both from the eyes of an artist and a curator. The guidance of my teachers and the creative exchange with my peers have been invaluable, pushing me to continuously evolve.
At its core, my work is about storytelling—translating emotions, subconscious thoughts, and imagined worlds onto the canvas. I seek to create art that is immersive, thought-provoking, and visually dynamic, sparking curiosity and opening doors to new interpretations. My practice continues to explore the intersections of memory, fantasy, and contemporary culture, rooted in my Indian heritage but open to global influences, using paint as a means to connect, provoke, and inspire.
